The Openning Ceremony of the ASEAN-Korea Centre

On 13 March 2009, H.E. Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and trade of the ROK to attend and deliver a congratulatory address at the Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN-Korea Centre. The Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN-Korea was presided over by H.E. Dr. Han Seung-soo, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea and also attended by dignitaries from the ROK and ASEAN as well as the diplomatic corp in Seoul. In his Speech, H.E. Mr. Kasit Piromya emphasized the importance of the Centre as the key channel in promoting trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two sides. Moreover, the opening of the Centre was very timely as this year marks the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-ROK relations. Leaders of ASEAN and the ROK will also meet at the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit in Jeju Island on 1-2 June to commemorate this auspicious occasion.
