Press Briefing on the First Meeting of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council

Thailand hosted the First Meeting of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council during 22-24 August 2009 at Four Seasons Hotel, Bangkok. This was the first meeting of the socio-cultural community pillar following the entry into force of the ASEAN Charter since 15 December 2008. During 22-23 August was the preparatory meeting of the ASCC Council with the Ministerial Meeting on 24 August 2009.

Opening Ceremony of the 42^nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting
Phuket, Thailand: Today (20 July 09) at 09.45 hrs., H.E. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand delivered an opening statement at the opening ceremony of the 42^nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, where 10 ASEAN foreign ministers will adopt a number of documents including the Joint Communique of the 42^nd Ministerial Meeting, the Terms of Reference (ToR) of an ASEAN Human Rights Body, and the ASEAN Work Plan on Maintaining and Enhancing ASEAN Centrality.
