Signing Ceremony of the Outcome Documents of the 14th ASEAN Summit
On 1 March 2009 at 11.15-11.30 hrs. ASEAN Heads of State and Government signed Cha-am Hua Hin Declaration on the Roadmap for an ASEAN Community (2009-2015) at the Royal Dusit Grand Ballroom A, Dusit Thani Hua Hin Hotel, Cha-am, Phetchaburi.

Opening Ceremony of the 14th ASEAN Summit
Hua Hin, Thailand : Today (28 Feb 09) at 14.30 hrs., H.E. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand delivered an opening statement at the opening ceremony of the 14th ASEAN Summit, where heads of state and government from all 10 ASEAN member countries gathered to mark a new chapter for ASEAN following the entry into force of the ASEAN Charter last December.

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban’s statement on current political situation
On 10 April 2009 at 12.45 hrs., Mr. Suthep Thaugsuban, Deputy Prime Minister, gave a press briefing at the Media Centre of the 14th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Pattaya, stressing that the meeting will proceed as scheduled.
   
Thailand ready to host the 14th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits
On 9 April 2009 at 14.00 hrs, Mr. Tharit Charungvat, Director-General of the Department of Information and Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Mr. Somsakdi Suriyanongse, Director-General of the Department of Protocol, and Mr. Vitavas Srivihok, Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, gave a press conference at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, Pattaya, reaffirming that Thailand is ready to host the 14th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.

14th ASEAN Summit and its Related Summits

Thailand will host the 14th ASEAN Summit and its Related Summits during 10-12 April 2009 at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, Pattaya. The Related Summits are an important and integral part of the 14th ASEAN Summit held on 28 February-1 March 2009 in Cha-am Hua Hin.

Preparations for 14th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits

Gala Dinner for ASEAN Heads of State/Government and Their Spouses
On 28 February 2009 at 19.30-22.00 hrs. H. E. Abhisit Vejjajiva Prime Minister of Thailand hosted the Gala Dinner for ASEAN Heads of State and Government, attending the 14th ASEAN Summit, and their Spouses at Mrigadayavan Palace. Among other invited guests were the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Ministers, Parliamentarians, and distinguished guests including former ASEAN Secretaries-General, Permanent Representatives accredited to ASEAN and the Ambassadors to ASEAN.

HLP Chair: ASEAN body to take evolutionary approach in promoting and protecting regional human rights
The establishment of an ASEAN human rights body (AHRB) would be based on three main principles, according to Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Chairman of the High-Level Panel on an ASEAN Human Rights Body (HLP): to realistically take into account the actual situation in ASEAN, to establish a credible AHRB through consistency with internationally accepted human rights standards and norms, and to make the AHRB an evolutionary process to be continually strengthened in the future.
